Nude Man at Airport I'm not making this up. An Arizona man was arrested at Lihue Airport after being seen walking nude on the runway. He has been ordered to remain in custody on Kauai pending outcome of a mental health examination. According to police, this gentleman has been visiting Kauai for the past couple of years and “gets in trouble every time he comes here”. A more interesting question for authorities, given the heightened security after 9/11, is how did he manage to disrobe and then gain access to the runway in the first place? He certainly didn't have a ticket and ID with him to get past the security check point the rest of us have to pass through, did he? Hog Enthusiasts Rejoice For those of
you dying to rent a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a new location has opened Harbor Mall Speaking of

![]() We've just completed a new page for our website that can be found on the left hand menu on the home page under the title Airline/Car Rental. Here is it for those of you that haven't seen the website lately.
A wide variety of car rental companies are available on Kauai and most can be booked over the internet. Use LIH as the airport code or Lihue as the city. BreezeNet has a web site with coupon specials if you are not already a member of any one company's frequent renter program. Go to the BreezeNet site first and then use the links within that site to go to Alamo, Budget and National for their discount programs. Hertz does not discount through BreezeNet. Other car rental companies on
Kauai:
Under 25 and Want to Rent a Car? If you’re under the age of 25, you
know it can sometimes be challenging to rent a car these days. Not
to worry if you're coming to Kauai because Thrifty Car Rental DOES rent
to young adults under the age of 25. For details, go to their website
and use LIH as the airport code. Enter all of your information and
at the end of the process select the “Under 25” option. That's all
there is to it!
Looking for a rock bottom, no frills price? Rent-A-Wreck - No website, their local phone umber is 808-632-0741. A tip after you have booked your
reservation:
DO NOT, however, give the company the phone number under which you made your original reservation. If you do, they will give you the same rate that is already in the computer. Only after getting the new lower price quote should you give them your original confirmation number for your new reservation.
Direct Internet Booking Some terrific websites to search
for low air fares if you want to book directly over the internet:
Using A Travel Agent In addition to the airfare consolidators
(discounters) that accept bookings directly from the public, a number of
other powerful consolidators deal only with travel agents and can often
be the source of extremely low fares. When a travel agent writes
you a ticket, always ask them to contact a member of the United States
Air Consolidators Association (UACA). It's almost certain they'll
have a better price for your ticket. Here are the websites of the
eight members of the UACA that deal only with travel agents:
Two additional members of UACA
deal directly with the public as well as with travel agents:

The Creation of Man God created the mule, and told him, "You will be a mule, working constantly from dusk to dawn, carrying heavy loads on your back. You will eat grass and lack intelligence. You will live for 50 years." The mule answered, "To live like this for 50 years is too much. Please, give me no more than 30." And it was so. Then God created the dog, and told him, "You will hold vigilance over the dwellings of Man, to whom you will be his greatest companion. You will eat his table scraps and live for 25 years." And the dog responded, "Lord, to live 25 years as a dog like that is too much. Please, no more than 10 years." And it was so. God then created the monkey, and told him, "You are monkey. You shall swing from tree to tree, acting like an idiot. You will be funny, and you shall live for 20 years." And the monkey responded, "Lord, to live 20 years as the clown of the jungle is too much. Please, Lord, give me no than 10 years." And it was so. Finally, God created Man and told him, "You are Man, the only rational being that walks the earth. You will use your intelligence to have mastery over the creatures of the world. You will dominate the earth and live for 20 years." And the man responded, "Lord, to be Man for only 20 years is too little. Please, Lord, give me the 20 years the mule refused, the 15 years the dog refused, and the 10 years the monkey rejected." And it was so. And so God made Man to live 20 years as a man, then marry and live 20 years like a mule working and carrying heavy loads on his back. Then, he is to have children and live 15 years as a dog, guarding his house and eating the leftovers after they empty the pantry. Then, in his old age, to live 10 years as a monkey, acting like an idiot to amuse his grandchildren. And it is so.
Some people (myself included) find it interesting to learn about real estate values in a particular area. For those of you that share that curiosity, this section's for you. This issue lists some affordable homes on the south shore of our island. Future issues will sample affordable condos, high end homes, acreage and just about anything else I can think of. Koloa Starter Home
Eleele Four Bedroom
Lawai Hillside New Construction
Kalaheo Fixer Upper
In all fairness I have to tell you the last house listed above in Kalaheo is on the list because it's on the entrance road into my neighborhood. We've been hoping and praying that the current owners would sell and that someone with vision would come along and restore this place to its former glory. Right now it is a huge eyesore, so if anyone wants to step up to the plate, please do!
