KAUAI HISTORICAL SOCIETY 90TH ANNIVERSARY ROYAL BALL The Kauai Historical Society celebrates its 90th anniversary with a gala evening of dinner, music and dancing. A program of music, dance and costumes of the early 1900s by Blaine Kia will accompany the multicourse dinner. Aaron Mahi and an ensemble will follow with romantic, lively music for dancing and listening. Silent auction of estate and antique items, jewelry, home accessories, varied services, and more benefits the Kauai Historical Society. Kauai Marriott Resort, Kalapaki. Reservations required. SEA CHEST SECRET EXHIBITION- A KAUA`I CHILDREN'S DISCOVERY MUSEUM HANDS-ON LEARNING ADVENTURE The SEA CHEST SECRET exhibition is an interactive "maritime mystery" that challenges visiting families to figure out who wrote an intriguing 18th century sailor's diary found washed ashore in a sea chest. As guests visit each exhibit station, they'll learn more about shipboard life during the golden age of ocean exploration. They'll also learn about Hawaiian culture (what life was like on Kaua`i in the 1700's), environmental science, art, navigation, botany and more! Tues. through Sat., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., located in the Kaua`i Village (Safeway) Shopping Center, Kapa`a.
