As this newsletter is being written in late March, our office is almost complete. And sure enough, that eternal optimist Herb underestimated once again the length of time the whole process would take. We're down to granite countertops, a sink and crown molding to complete this project, however I'm not going to stick my neck out this time and guestimate a final completion date. It shouldn't be too much longer and then you'll see notices in all the Villas to stop by and see us.
Never at a loss for projects, I'm planning to add air conditioning to the living rooms of the Aloha and Oceanview Villas, which  will make both of them completely air conditioned, rather than just the bedrooms. I'm shooting for completion prior to the summer season. The afternoon sun sets right into these two living rooms and this will be a welcome addition, I'm sure for anyone staying with us this summer.
We continue to be one of very few (2 or 3?) air conditioned vacation rentals in Poipu Beach. I think the reason more properties have not opted for A/C (besides the high initial cost) is Kauai's electricity cost, currently 29 cents per kilowatt hour, about double the next highest rate on the mainland.
Prior to summer we will also be replacing the hot tub in the Seabreeze Villa with a new, state of the art tub. These days that means a quieter system, with many more jets and "mood" lighting. We will also be ordering hot tubs for both the Coral and Dolphin Villas, however their installation date will very much be determined by the availability of labor to install them.
The Coral hot tub will go into an extended deck to the left of the existing one and be enclosed by white lattice for privacy. The Dolphin hot tub will go in the front yard, which already has a private hedge all around. And when this is all done, we may refer to this 2315 building as our "romance" building, as all three Villas will have private hot tubs. We are looking to expand our wedding, honeymoon, anniversary business and this will be the first step
